Funmatsu-cha means "powdered tea“ in Japanese. It is made from pulverized Sencha or Hōjicha (roasted green tea). To avoid the confusion with Matcha, this cheaper powder is called Funmatsu-ryokucha or Funmatsu-hōjicha. It has the distinctive color and taste of the original tea and is often used in cheap cafes and restaurant as instant tea drink. The brewing is very fast and uncomplicated, making it a perfect option for a busy tea lover. Both types of Funmatsucha are widely used in sweets and drinks all over the world.
